Wrong behaviors with children in the field

There are behaviors that parents teach children in the fields thinking that we are respecting nature, such as throwing an orange peel or going off the road to take a shortcut.

However, nature is very fragile and, although we do not realize it, every step we take on it affects it. Parents must set an example for our children and eradicate those behaviors that ultimately degrade our ecosystem.

In Guiainfantil.com We tell you what actions your children should not learn when you go to the field.

The wrong behaviors in the field It is something very common and one must try to avoid and serve as an example for children.

What should we not do in the field with our children?

1- Do not introduce plant or animal species that do not belong to that ecosystem. The typical small and cute snake that someone gives the child for his birthday and that has now become a real boa constrictor, or the Galapagos tortoise that has grown and does not fit in the aquarium, or a tropical flower that we brought with us from the last trip ... they should never be released or planted in our ecosystem, since by not belonging to it they endanger the native species.

2- Do not start flowers, plants and mushrooms that are not known. There are many children who want to enjoy a day in nature and, therefore, if each of them were to pick flowers or plants, many of them protected or in symbiosis with others, such as moss, we would unbalance the ecosystem of the place.

3- Do not throw garbage, even biodegradable. We all know that papers, cigarettes, plastics, cans, etc., take years to degrade and, more than others, we are aware of the importance of not throwing these things in natural spaces, however, many adults still think that they can come off from the peels of tangerines, or apples calmly because the animals will eat it or because it will degrade quickly. This is partly true, but the truth is that there are many of us and the field cannot get rid of all the organic trash that we throw out every day, so the next time you go to the field you will sit on the peels of the pipes or orange of the previous hiker. On the other hand, the local animals are not used to eating many of the junk that we throw away, such as sausages or bread, since in their environment this does not grow, causing serious intestinal disorders.

4- Put children to poop anywhere and not pick it up. Pooping in the field, although it seems simple, is an art. I can tell you that there is even a book dedicated entirely to that topic. You shouldn't poop anywhere more than anything because the next one can walk by and step on it, or any animal can come up and eat it, as human feces attract them, causing gastric problems. The correct thing is to make a hole and put the child, then cover it and place a stone on top. And most importantly, never throw the papers on the ground, we put them in a bag and take them with us.

5- You should not let children climb trees either or go out of the way for shortcuts, as that degrades the area more quickly.

In short: the most important thing is to respect nature, and to follow one of the most well-known phrases by mountaineers: Everything that I bring in my backpack, I take it in my backpack!
